che_gilsonSo, I'm trying to save up for Dollpa LA, and my first thought was, "If they don't have a limited I want I'll just go home with my money." But then I realized, NO! That is stoopid!! Buy the limited and then mercilessly SCALP IT!! I even stand to make a good $500 profit on it, more if it's some uberpopular mold like she-who-must-not-be-named *coughwalnut* Then I parley the profits into purchasing walnut. OR trade for her. Trade+cash if it's not enough or get her nekkid. But I really want her wig.
Before anyone bitchs about scalping and scalpers I'd like to say #1- This is all Volks' fault. They have reduced to me to this for reasons I'll go into below. #2-We've all been victems of scalping and it's time to get a little of my own back. This is revenge and strategy all in one.
So, onto more about why Volks sucks. And if you want to whine about how horrible I am and how Volks are the nicest kindest sweetest doll company ever- take it somewhere else. It's called corporate image. Don't tell me they don't have board meetings or the Japanese equivelant all about how to maintain their company's image. Don't tell me they don't have spin doctors and PR like everyone else. SO- the reason they suck is that their entire marketing strategy for their dolls is based on scarcity. They keep numbers small on purpose, so we'll unhesitatingly fork over any amount of money they want when our most longed for head molds are made available at last. Other than a marketing ploy there is NO reason for their headmolds to be so scarce. Their is no earthly reason they can't make more she-who-will-not-be-named. They do this on purpose. It's the same reason all the really good heads are kept for Dollpas, one-ofs, and FCS AND to add insult to injury all the best FCS heads are Sato only.
I'm so sick of every one going on about what a wonderful and heartwarming company Volks is. People go on about them like they're the second coming. They are picking our pockets and telling us to be grateful. In the Dollpa NY 2 after report Mr. Shigeta said something about being happy for the one-of winners and sorry for those who couldn't take home their dream doll ( I can't find the after report or I'd paste it in), yeah, maybe on some level he/Volks beleive their own PR, but this is STILL marketing strategy. Don't pick my pocket and tell me your doing me a favor. At least admit it! Admit you want your dolls to stay rare so you can charge huge amounts for fullsets at your own events were all the money is kept by YOU! Am I the only one who doesn't by into the fuzzy pink coma of Volks' bullshit? What the HELL?
