The toughest job you'll ever love.

When I was a wee little girl I wanted to be a Butler. That's right, a butler. I saw something about them on TV and thought it looked like a cool job. Of course back then I don't think there were any female Butlers and women may not have been allowed to be butlers in the first place. Aside from that though my dream earned me only the mockery of my mom and was forgotten when I discovered comics.
My OTHER dream has always been to HAVE a butler, but I don't think I'll ever have the priveledge.
But awhile ago I was poking around online and discovered a number of butler schools AND also discovered that there are female butkers now! I'm kind of sad. I'd actually still really like to go butler school. What I really want is the training. They train you to deal with people, manage a staff, answer the phone, etiquette, organizational skills and lots of things like that. That's what I REALLY want, social skills. That kind of confidence and self possession. A feeling of "I can do it" competance. Instead of my usual mode of funtioning- fear, self-doubt, and awkwardness. I have no self confidence but I'm convinced it is something that can be learned.
But no matter what I don't have the $10,000 to $16,000 it takes to go to one of the training programs so I suppose I'll just have to go without.
Here is a cool promotional video made by one of the schools! And man, the training is like the Marines! LOL!
The actual school site can be found here http://www.butlerschool.com/ This is the one that costs $16,000 to go to go. Now I just need massive donations and I'll sign up! Actually if someone did hand me the money I'd go. I'd like to think I wouldn't wash out and could complete the training but I dunno. It looks ubertough! The interesting thing though is that it isn't just private homes that hire butlers anymore. Really fine hotels around the world are starting to offer a butler with their most expensive suites! And the starting pay is super decent! Ha! Maybe I did miss my calling.
