Prop 8 banning gay marriage was passed last night. It was actually a narrower margin then I expected but it's still awful to see it go through. To be honest though I am not surprsed at all. I expected this and was not surprised.

It's going to take more than one or two state supreme courts to pass gay marriage. It's going to have to go to the U.S. Supreme Court and be passed into Federal law which would make it nation wide. I think that is the next logical step and we'll have to wait and see. Has it actually happened yet though? I don't follow what cases the Supreme Court are ruling on. If gay marriage has gone before the Supreme Court then they must have decided it's a case for the states to decide for themselves.

This is something akin to the fight interacial couples faced in the 50s. Something seems to be lacking though... oh, I know what it is- people actually willing to DO something. The massive apathy of America since the 60s has seen us on a downhill slide of aneasthitizing blase. Only a few people care very strongly about anything and the only ones willing to DO anything about there beleifs are Christians who are eroding freedom in the U.S. Honestly Christian fundamentalists in this country scare me a hell of a lot more then Muslim terrorists. When freedom is stripped from the minority then freedom is stripped from ALL of us.
