"EXTREME MUNI!!!!"
Oct. 23rd, 2003 07:52 pmHello everyone! I'm back from my adventurers at yaoicon! I had a really great time. I got to hook up with my friend Garnet who I met at the very first yaoicon. The hotel it was that this year was super swank. It was held at the Renaissance Park 55 in San Francisco. It was in the heart of couture shopping. I tried to avoid Nordstrom the entire weekend but failed miserably. In fact I found the most adorable Gothic Lolita style clothes. They aren't the exact fashion but with the right accessories they'll do nicely. I got the cutest pinstripe skirt and two shirts. One is Lacey and the other one is a sweater with a bow on it. I'm thinking of taking the close to my friends house and see a felt ticket picture of them with a digital camera so I can post them on my live journal.
Back to the con! I bought lots of doujinshi, about $70 worth. I found three Hellsing doujinshi, two of them were normal and one of them was a hentei. The hentei one really threw me because one of my favorite characters in Hellsing is this evil guy who is a woman in the doujinshi. So I think I might be wrong , and that the guy I like isn't a guy! But the Hellsing comic is really difficult, it's almost impossible to tell the gender of any of the characters. It's the manga where men are men and so are the women. Stupid Dark Horse is taking forever to get the comic out to and that character I like isn't in it until book 4.
My biggest adventure during the convention was riding the MUNI to Kinokuniya. I actually enjoy public transit in major cities. But on the return trip the bus was really crowded and the bus driver really liked to slam on the brakes. Everyone was being thrown foreword and backward for about 10 blocks. There was nowhere to see it so I was hanging on to a bar for dear life.
I came back from the convention really inspired. I've decided I'm going to do lots of fan art to sell at next year's convention. I might even in have another comic job, just a little one. These guys at the con put together a Yaoi anthology and I might be in the next one. I already came up with a short five or six page story. I also want to enter the art show and have a table next year. Either of fan table or a dealers table. I've already started on art for a color portfolio to sell next year. Me and Garnet are even thinking of starting a doujinshi circle.
Good news, I'm going to be in Mangaphile No. 22! I submitted a old, but still good, comic to them a while back. I was looking through the new Previews and saw my name listed in the right up. So go to your local comic book shop and asked for Mangaphile.
