"Wretched sinner unit..."
Sep. 27th, 2007 08:52 pmBack from my first real bookstore booksigning! I would like to say that there were tons of people, a whole line just waiting for my autograph! But there wasn't! There were a few people, most of them my relatives and people from my mom's work. But they did buy copies so that's something! B&N had all these chairs set up and piles of my book everywere! And I felt bad. There was podium too so I could do a 'reading' except for it's a graphic novel and you can't DO a reading from it. I gave a short talk about the process of making a graphic novel, blanked several times and it was all over in under an hour! Again I felt bad. I should have essays on the art of comics, or some sort of disertation I can read at these things... A couple people in the audience were actually more nervous than I was which is funny since I was terrified! I like Q&A because it means I don't have to come up with content for talking. But there was not much Q&A at this. I was hoping more people would have questions for me. I wish I had done better. Everyone said I did fine.
Also fun fact- DMD vol 1 is reviewed in PLAY magazine this month. They seemed to like it... But hte rating was X.x which makes no sense since the other reviews all got numbers... It figures that I get a book reviewed in a nice shiny magazine and get typos. Oh well. I sure hope people buy DMD vol 1. It's really very exciting to have a book in bookstores not just comicbook shops.
BUT I'm still waiting for that boost in Etsy sales! *cough*
