"All life is suffering"
Jul. 31st, 2003 03:36 pmWell, I went to Comicon and it was fabulous! Even more fabulous than it normally is. Everything was perfect! I bought a lot of things and even though I didn't get everything I wanted, I got a little bit of everything I had on my list. Unfortunately, the wonderfulness that is SDCC is just another huge reminder of my crappy life. SDCC is everything I want in my life. I want to live in downtown SD. I want to draw comics and write books and comics and be surrounded by friends. And then I have to come home. It's quite the emotional crash. So once SDCC is over, I'm always depressed for a week or two. It's just a big reminder of everything I'm not doing. The short stories that are not getting written and the comics that aren't getting drawn.
On to the purchases! Yay! I got a bunch of DVDs, two more volumes of Utena, vol. 3 of Hellsing, and vol. 1 of The Twelve Kingdoms. I bought the latter on impulse because it looked really cool. And I was right! Lastly, I bought Shamanic Princess which was really cool too. I got a bunch of autographs, Capt. Craise, Capt. Brakker, Rygal, and Scorpious. I picked up Michael Mannings two newest graphic novels and got those signed. Plus Tokyo Pop brought some creators over, both of whom I adore! Min-woo Hyung, the creator of Priest and Kim Kang Won, creator of I N.V.U. I bought graphic novels at the Con especially so I could get the signed. I didn't know they were going to be there so I hadn't brought anything with me. I actually found a Rose Petal Place doll. Rose Petal herself and in fairly decent condition! In my quest to recapture the toys of my childhood I also got Raspberry Tart with her monkey,Rubarb. The last two toys I got were the set of Dark Crystal 12 inch figures of Jen and Kira. I actually got the last set that the toy dealer had! I got the pair for 40 bucks! I picked up an assortment of manga and a few other odds and ends. I was also able to attain, for a friend of mine, the HOLY GRAIL of this year's convention a Keldor action figure (doll).
Now I just have to make a huge amount of money and purchase real estate. I don't even have to live in San Diego. There are perfectly fabulous beach houses in Solano Beach and Oceanside....
