day 04 → your favorite book  This is another easy answer for me. Aria of the Sea by Dia Calhoun

This is another book that deeply resonates with me. At it's core its about answering your calling. I am one of those people who have always felt that I have a calling. I have always had that one thing I've wanted to do for the rest of my life and I've had it since childhood. Which is why I enjoy books and films about people either discovering what they want to do or fullfilling what they wish to do. Ratatoullie, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Whisper of the Heart are some of my favorite films which center on this idea.  I can't stand books and films and manga where the only desire the main character has is to fall in love or get married. Those drive me bonkers. It's one of the reasons I've discovered I hate Ai Yazawa's writing so much. Her characters a often apathetic, although the supporting cast often sports some passion it's not enough to make up for such dismal main characters. If there were more good career manga published in the US I would probably be a big fan. The problem is most career manga just turns into a shonen tournament.
