Con Report: Ani-jam 2006

Ani-jam 2006!
It was at the Fresno Fairgrounds in the building they have for ag exhibits. It was sadly unair-conditioned. But, larger than I thought it would be. The first building had registration and the two panel rooms along with a tiny art show and a place for people to sit and sketch. Then, there was the dealers' room which is where I was selling in artist alley. And there was a third room with anime viewing. But I couldn't leave my table so I didn't get to watch anything. Sadly, that's how most cons go for me now.
Anyway, my panel was the first panel on Saturday. They didn't have the panel rooms numbered so I started with three people in the panel. And one was a plant! I had my friend come so he could ask questions when things got slow. They didn't have a computer or anything so I was unable to show off the Dark Moon Diary art I brought. I was kind of short of material and my discription of DMD was really brief. I should have talked more about the characters and what was going on. But, I answered questions competently and I was funny! Or at least people were laughing. Hm. Whenever there was a lull I would mention a tv show or an anime and would get a response from the audience. I'm happy to say many of them are watching Blade the tv series!
After my panel, which by the end had increased to more than three people, I went to sell things! I had a table in artist alley and did pretty well. Con total: $110. So not bad for an afternoon.
The news came around and interviewed but I ended up on the cutting room floor. So sad. I am soooo on the comics D-list. I need to take hustling lessons from Kathy Griffin, who is my hero now.
So, with the big, fat $110 I dutifully put half into the copy jar which funds my productions, and with the other half I splurged on manga. I bought The Clan of the Nakajimas, Il Gatto Sul, Deathnote 5, Sugar Sugar Rune #3, and D-Greyman 2.
I'm sooo angry! Staples is no longer taking Epson ink cartridges for recycling! I'm completely dependent on those $3 coupons! I'm sooo screwed! I don't know if I can do fan art anymore...
Happy, happy! I mailed in all the materials for my doujinshi to the printer! It was finally completed this week and I mailed it on Tuesday! Yay! I hope I did it right.
