I'm back from Fanime! Of course, I've been back since Monday but this is the first chance I've had to update.
There were lots of changes this year. Including the Artist Alley being in its own exhibit hall. That was kind of interesting. A lot of people complained that not being on the concourse hurt their sales. But the concourse was only great if you're in the 'hot' spot. Outside of that, nobody paid attention to you.
Here's the tally! I came away with $428! That beats both Fanime '05 AND Yaoicon '05! So, I think I'm moving up in the world. And I'm working hard on more art and more products for next year!
Cool things: 1.the drunken Japanese business man in the sushi bar. Really. How classic is that? 2. the Hellsing cosplay kids. 3. the guy who bought an extra copy of Avigon just to have me sign it! 4. the Rozen Maiden marathon. Even though I could only stay conscious for season #1. It's a SUPER cool show and I'm a total convert! 5. the two episodes of Sugar, Sugar Rune! 6.
the Trinity Blood cosplay group.
I am also doomed to have hotel rooms right next either to the elevator or the ice machine. This time, it was the elevator. And those aren't fast elevators. So, all night long, I get to hear shrieking otaku, hanging out, waiting for the elevator. And what's with running up and down hotel hallways??? I need to be on the fuddy-duddy floor. I'm so boring.
I took my Nintendo DS with me. And I am soooo stuck on Lunar! I spent like an hour and a half on it and I'm STILL in the Blue Dragon Cave. That game is starting to piss me off. Anyone out there know where the three treasures are? Or how to get the dragon to come out?
I picked up a Nintendo flyer at the con and found out that the sequel to Trauma Center is only on the Wii. Curses! I'm still playing the first one though.
I came home all excited to work. I am trying to get a doujinshi out in time for Ycon. I also noticed that people really like badges, keychains, and crap they can hang off their backpacks. So I'm gonna try to figure out how to make dangly backpack charms. And I'm making calendars for 2007! Those will be available at Yaoicon!
