Con Report
Nov. 5th, 2005 08:06 pmWell, I'm back from Yaoicon '05. The delay in updating is due to illness. I got home Monday and promptly fell ill on Wednesday.
The GRAND total earned: $263! That is $100 more than Fanime. My best sellers are the bookmarks. Especially the Fruits Basket bookmarks. I had such high hopes for the Naruto bookmarks. There were a bunch a people dressed up as characters from that show. They just won't buy anything! Goddammit. The Ed and Roy bookmarks are surprisingly slow movers, too. What the hell do the fans want??? My favorite are the people who eagerly check out my original art bookmarks, ask what show it's from, and when I tell them it's original, they put it back down again.
I guess I will endeavor to perservere. Which means I will have a table at Fanime again and I'll make a couple more Fruits Basket bookmarks :)
I did surprisely little at Yaoicon this year. So there aren't any really good anecdotes. Manning the table was pretty much it. I saw the most fucked-up live action film. It was about gay samurai. It was strange...beyond strange actually. I probably would have spent more time in the video room but I went to a Dolfie meet on Friday night. Saturday night, I was slightly ill in the intestines. And Sunday, I had a wonderful dinner at my con/roomie's sister's house. She cooked for us last year and it was amazing! IN fact I spent all year looking forward to this year's dinner.
My darling doll Isabella (Lishe from Delf) got more attention than I did. I had her sit on my table and guard my cashbox. She was photographed many times. The outfit that I made with my own two hands, got a lot of compliments. I was very pleased and surprised.
I did some shopping and in some strange fit of insanity, ended up buying a bunch of Harry Potter dojinshi. Although none of them are really about Harry. They are all centered around Sirius, Lupin, James, and Snape. But Snape is in only one of them.
Oh,yeah, the Harry Potter bookmarks did pretty well for me, too.
But why not the Naruto bookmarks?! Why??? Why??? Come on Naruto fans! Show me some love! They're good looking prints and bookmarks!
