What’s the last thing you wrote?
Maybe 'Found' a short story rejected from an online contest for Dark Recesses.
Was it any good?
Well it was rejected... I dunno. It wasn't bad. I didn't think so anyway...
What’s the first thing you ever wrote that you still have?
Not much. Although I know I have some of it still. Lots of fan work from the holts I was in (EQ fandom groups) I know I still have the majority of that.
Write poetry?
Hell no.
Angsty poetry?
Nope.
Most fun character you ever wrote?
Lately it's Lulu from Dark Moon Diary and her ex-boyfriend Cotton. They show up in vol. 2
Most annoying character you ever wrote?
Priscilla. Not because she's annoying but because she is the 'Luke Skywalker' of Dark Moon Diary. Sometimes it's hard to make her interesting and the plots are often funnier when things are happening to her rather than when she's in the forefront.
Best plot you ever wrote?
I'm still immensely proud of Avigon:Gods and Demons. I think I always will be. That book had the most to say about life.
Coolest plot twist you ever wrote?
I like it when Pulsifer tells Avigon to lose at the end of Avigon:GaD. I also like it that Wolfgar was the one to keep Priscilla from leaving in DMD vol 1.
How often do you get writer’s block?Only on things I'm actually getting paid to do :O. Not kidding about this...
How do you fix it?
Put it off until the last minute.
Do you type or write by hand?
By hand!
Do you save everything you write?
Alot actually.
Do you ever go back to an old idea long after you abandoned it?
No. I just drop things.
What’s your favorite thing that you’ve written?
Avigon: Gods and Demons, Dark Moon Diary vol. 2. Unpublished stuff- thing I'm working on now, Ex Libris, Witch-Ever!, and a couple of snippets in my journal that will never be turned into stories but are effing cool.
What’s everyone else’s favorite thing that you’ve written?
I have no idea. I wrote a longish short story called Psychopomp that my roomate STILL bugs me about finishing even though I did finish I just hated it by the end.
Do you ever show people your work?
Not much actually... I was in writing group but they were lame and none of them were even trying to get published. I'd LOVE to have a really professional/publication oriented group to work with though.
Who’s your favorite constructive critic?
![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Did you ever write a novel?
Three YA books that all sucked ass.
Have you ever written fantasy, sci-fi, or horror?
That's mostly what I do :)
Ever written romance or teen angsty drama?
Teen angsty baby! Right here! :)
What’s one genre you have never written, and probably never will?
Nonfiction, although it's a good gig if you can do it.
How many writing projects are you working on right now?
Dark Moon Diary vol 3, something else I'm not talking about, TeaxThree (a synopsis for the submission pack), something for the StoryTeller anthology?? Maybe??
Do you want to write for a living?
I do! I mean I sorta do anyway, it's just not enough to cover everything...
Have you ever written something for a magazine or newspaper?
Well, an article on EGL for Mangaphile if that counts...
Have you ever won an award for your writing?
YES! OMG! Second Place in the Crime Scene New Jersey 2nd annual contest a couple years ago.
Ever written something in script or play format?
Yes! I LOVE it! It's soooooo much easier than prose, so much faster.
What is your favorite word?
Vaguely. I also use really and anyway a lot. Too much actually. For the sound of it I like conflagration.
Do you ever write based on yourself?
No.
Which of your characters most resembles you?
Hmm... I dunno...
Where do you get ideas for your characters?
They come from my brain and my imagination and a lot of the time me reading something and thinking "I could do it better/differently".
Do you ever write based on your dreams?
No.
Do you prefer happy endings, sad endings, or cliff-hangers?
I like sad endings, but I like happy endings too. I hate cliff hangers.
Have you ever written anything based on an artwork you’ve seen?
Well, I write based on my own artwork. I do my own character designs.
Are you concerned with spelling and grammar as you write?
No, thats for editing.
Ever write something entirely in chatspeak?
Oh HELL no!
Does music help you write?
No, I work in silence. I find music distracting.
Are people surprised and confused when they find out you write well?
I think so...
Quote something you’ve written:
Two pages from DMD vol. 2
Page 25
Panel 1: The family: Lilith, Wolfgar, Priss and Kitten are eating dinner. The vampires have more scary-looking food/prey items and Priss has pasta with veggies. Lilith and Wolfgar look glum.
Panel 2: Lilith sighs.
Lilith: Sigh
I have an announcement to make.
Panel 3: Everyone looks at her, a bit worried. Lilith goes on.
Lilith: My parents are coming for a visit tomorrow.
Panel 4: Kitten is very happy.
Kitten: Grammy and Grampy are coming?
Priss: I have grandparents?
Panel 5: Lilith stands up.
Lilith: Priscilla may I see you for a moment?
Panel 6: Priscilla follows Lilith out of the dining room.
Page 26
Panel 1: Out in the hallway, Lilith faces Priss. Lilith grips Priss’s shoulders as though bracing her for bad news.
Priss: What is it?
Lilith: I’m sorry. My parents are... old fashioned. You need to brace yourself.
Panel 2: Priss is looking very nervous now.
Priss: Why?
Lilith: Well, our parents... they disowned Regine when she married Octavio. Not that they ever got along...
But for some reason they’ve decided to come and check you out.
Panel 4: Priss is a bit confused and angry.
Priss: Check me out? What for?
Lilith: To see if you’re up to their standards.
Panel 5: Lilith puts an arm around Priss.
Lilith: But you won’t be.
Priss: What?
Lilith: No one is. They’re terribly narrow minded.
Just prepare yourself for the worst.
Panel 6: Priss looks depressed.
Priss: It gets worse?
Lilith: Don’t worry, they won’t stay forever.
