Bah Humbug!!
Dec. 22nd, 2010 08:07 pmTime for the annual I hate X-mas post! Arg! So I made presents this year... And I'm actually STILL making presents. I saw these http://www.zanzibartribalart.com/chanchitos.htm in a store in Oakland and they were super cute! And I thought "I can make those! But in color!!" So it's what, two/three days before X-mas and I'm now making them. And they are NOT as easy as they look. And the irony? I spent about as much on materials as I would have if I just bought the fucking things from the website! I would have done that but two things are going on. I don't have a credit card (it is disappeared, and let's just leave it at that. It's NOT out there floating aroung the world thank heavens, buying TVs off ebay, but nor is it in my wallet) AND secondly I just changed banks. I am between debit cards and my Paypal is effed up because I didn't sign up for online banking and have to confirm my new account on PP the old fashioned way.
So today I bought La Doll clay and styrofoam eggs and have the body of each chanchito done. When it's dry, hopefully tomorrow, I will add ears and legs, then when that is dry I will paint them cute and maybe glue things on.
The saving grace of this is that due to work and stuff we are having X-mas the 26th so I have time to finish the chanchito for my aunt and cousin.
The suck is I HOULD HAVE JUST BOUGHT THE FUCKING PIG.
The truth is I FORGOT I WAS GOING TO MAKE THESE FOR PEOPLE AND ONLY JUST REMEMBERED LIKE 2 DAYS AGO.
Anyway, all props to the dudes in Peru who churn out kawaii three legged pigs. Gentlemen- I salute you. They are a lot harder than they look.
