It was good this year but I wasn't. I'd just gone off all the food I'm allergic too and I was more than a little emotionally unstable. Luckily I maintained really well and had only 1 meltown.
Good things: The gothic Lolita meet went well! Even though I planned poorly! People came!! YAY! THANK YOU ALL! Next year will be better I promise! Also thank you Colby from Cartoon Network! She took pictures so look for yours truly & friends on Adult Swim!!! I kid u not! And thank you Lucien for not being a freaky internet perv:)
I got to see lots of people! Even people who I had NO idea would be there because they didn't bother to tell me they'd be there...FSC! I saw my old SCAD prof Mark, ex SCAD prof Durwin, went to the Scad lunch, talkied to nameless SCAD newbie grads.
Bought TONS of stuff. Impulse buys: Bride of Deimos #2-7 only $2.00 EACH. 70'2 shoujo rocks! Oninbo and the Bugs from Hell by Hideshi Hino, which he signed! I like Horror Manga...
DVDS- Sailor Moon SuperS 3,4,5; The Twelve Kingdoms 2,3,4; Weiss Kruez 3,4,5; Hellsing 4
Best con finds- a new Katsuya Terreda art book, GLB 11, 12, &13. Hellsing 3 in english & Hellsing 6 in Japanese. The Aragorn cardboeard standie for my Vigo obsessed chiropractor, MORE HINKY FLUFFS!
My good luck with con exclusive Action Figures continues!! This year She-Ra! Which is for Jon (bleakhorizon. A friend of mine found out about my good luck and sent me through the Mattel line w/her badge. It worked and she won!
I shook hands with Stu of Tokyo Pop but hidious food allergies kept me from the TP dinner. I'll plan better next year.
Also missed Voltaire! ARG! Didn't even know he was there.
Con HIGHLIGHT!!! Meeting CHINA MIEVILLE!!! OMG!! HE ROCKS!! He is absolutely lovely in person! Very friendly! He even apologized that he missed the accent on my name! He said he's sensitive to accents cuz his name has one two. I gave him a copy of Avigon and he seemed genuinely happy! I hope he reads it! I wrote my e-mail address in the inside front cover! (which must be the modern equivelant of slipping someone your phone number.) But I got my two books signed, and my mum's signed too. And I took a picture of him holding up Avigon!!! I WILL post it somewhere!!
Why I'm the stupidest cow on earth: I have night guard/ splint/occlusal guard that keeps me from grinding my teeth into dust. It's the one thing I never leave home without! AND DUH!!! Like a complete dumb ass i left it home!! So my mom tried to overnight to me via UPS which completely FAILED!!!
UPS IS THE SHITTEST COMPANY EVER!!! AVOID THEM LIKE THE DIARRHEA BROWN PLAGUE THEY ARE!!!
THE FUCKERS DECIDED NOT TO SHIP IT UNTIL MONDAY!! (EVEN THOUGH THEY PROMISED OVERNIGHT DELIVERY!!) THE DAY AFTER I LEFT SAN DIEGO! SO THERE IS MY SPLINT IN SD RIGHT NOW!!! The only saving grace is that they lost my old splint, I have a new one, but wanted to take the old one cuz the new one is still tight.
The Avigon sequel IS STILL ON TRACK! I met up wuth Jimmie at the con, got my royalty money (most of which pays off my allergy test) and found out he's still going strong! Now if Image can just remember who we are! HAHA! No really, Erik Larson has NO idea who me & Jimmie are...
Also met up with Sarah G. Thanks for the T!! And hopefull collaborator Kats/Megan (electroncat) I'll think of SOMETHING! I promise! Lark, Jason, and all the Modern Tales crew, Ryan Hill (draw something!!)
