day 13 → a fictional book

I would like to discuss two books which I feel execute the ideas of theme and motif the best I have ever read in my life. The Wind Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami and The Scar by China Mieville. Each of these books sets out a specific theme and motife and then follows through with the theme througout the whole book and in the most amazing way.

The Wind Up Bird Chronicle has the themes of water, blockages, fate and wells. The Scar has the theme of scars, literal and figurative, of the body and the mind. I recommend them both.

In other (doll) news- MY BYGG HAS SHIPPED! Squee! It seems like I've been waiting forever! but I think it's only been three or four weeks since it was paid off. Of course I'm completely unprepared for the arrival. And I'm waiting for the fog to lift before doing all this blushing! I have FOUR Soom dolls which need blushing and in two cases face-ups! All need sueding and lacquiring.
